I purchased a china hutch in hopes that it would increase kitchen storage and organization. You can see the before pictures HERE.

The huge amount of super talented people posting china hutch makeovers is overwhelming. I wasn’t even sure what color to use. Luckily, or not since it’s oil based, I found three quarters of a can of red paint in the shop left by the previous owners of our home and decided that FREE paint was the right color.
Did you know that if you search for “red hutch” that eventually you come across a picture of Josh Hutcherson (Pita from the hunger games) on the red carpet. Anyway…
With a color chosen, I found these beautiful transformations to use as my inspiration.
Never A Dull Day
I think it’s the amazing piece of furniture that makes the hutch at Never A Dull Day, my favorite inspiration piece. I wish I could just trade mine for Meg’s. I like how dark the red is and the lines of the piece itself.
Turnstyle Vogue
I found this hutch at Turnstyle Vogue. I like the clean simple lines. The fact that she works and photographs in a small town Oregon orchard, makes it even cooler. I’d be happy to trade mine for Shari’s too.
The Funkie Munkie
My cousin, Hope, has amazing taste. She has a gorgeous hutch that is black with hints of red. I love it. I don’t have a picture of her piece but found this one at Funkie Munkie that has a similar finish. I think that if the red is too much for my dining room, this, or something similar, will be the next step in painting. Note…I didn’t realize that the name of Misti’s site was Funkie Munkie, but once I noticed I feel like we’re Monkey soul sisters.
Reclaimed Home
The only color question still unanswered is whether to pain the inside of the hutch red or go with an accent color. I like the way the yellow lightens up this piece from Reclaimed Home.
