Wooden Block Halloween Décor – Ghosts

Wooden Block Decor - Ghosts in six varieties of those created.

Did you know that annual Halloween spending measures in the billions? BILLIONS! To grab my small piece of that billion dollar pie, I began construction of this wooden block Halloween décor in August and I had them in my booth by September 1. I sold at least $200 worth before Halloween. They were priced in sets of all five characters for$39.95 and sets of three pumpkins (no faces) for $19.95. My shop owner asked me for individually priced characters and that’s where I lost count of exactly how many sold.

I made a video to show you each of the characters. The first video in the Wooden Block Halloween Décor series was the Ghostly Trio Craft Kit. The kit included everything you’d need to duplicate this project. In 2020, I didn’t sell a single kit. Not on my website and not on Etsy either. So I decided I would share the individual products going forward: Diy Paint in Black Velvet, and Vintage LinenCrystal Clear Chandelier Liquid Patina along with the Faces Stencil.

Ghosts Step by Step:

Wooden Block Halloween Decor - Blocks With Black Velvet DIY Paint Painted Edges
  1. Cut your landscape timber in different sizes. I cut them at 4 inches, 6 inches, and 8 inches but I think they’d be fun at random heights and that the size isn’t important.
  2. Paint the outside edges of each block in Black Velvet DIY Paint. That way, when you distress your white paint, the black will show through.
  3. Let the black paint dry completely and then cover the rest of the block with white paint. I used Vintage Linen DIY Paint.
  4. Use the stencil, a small brush or even a cotton swab to make a variety of faces on your ghosts.
