Easy Handmade Stamped Cards Using IOD Stamps
These days, there is something oddly magical about opening the mailbox and finding a real card.
Not a bill. Not junk mail. An actual handwritten note.
Most of us rarely get them anymore, which is exactly why a handmade card feels special now.
I started making simple stamped greeting cards for two reasons. First, I wanted an easy an inexpensive project to sell in my booth. Second, I wanted something displayed in my booth that showed people what these stamps actually do in real life.
Let me show you how I make them.

SUPPLIES
This project is wonderfully simple. You can find the stamps and ink I used for these cards linked below if you want to try the same project.
IOD Stamps
I used the IOD Sprigs stamp for some of these cards. Other favorites that work beautifully for handmade cards are La Campagne, Queen Bee, and the Farm Animals stamp.
IOD Ink
I used black ink for a crisp look, but any color works depending on your theme.
Blank greeting cards
I used simple blank cards with envelopes. I have green, white, and kraft versions and they all stamp beautifully.
Acrylic stamping sheet or acrylic block
I personally like using the flexible acrylic sheet that comes with the stamp because it helps me get an even press.
That is honestly it.
Stamp. Ink. Card.

HOW TO MAKE A SIMPLE STAMPED CARD
Start by placing your stamp onto the acrylic sheet. This allows you to pick it up and align it without touching the stamp's surface.
Tap the the ink pad onto the stamp until the surface is evenly coated.
Position the stamp where you want it on the front of the card and press down evenly with your hand.
Lift the stamp straight up without shifting it to maintain a sharp image.
THE FUN PART ABOUT HANDMADE CARDS
Not every experiment works perfectly.
At one point I stamped a full sheet of cardstock with the farm animals stamps. The rabbits, cows, and sheep turned out beautifully, but the sheep...not so much.

TRY DIFFERENT STAMPS AND THEMES
Once you start making these, it is easy to imagine all the variations.
Farm animal cards using the Farm Animals stamp. French country themed cards using La Campagne. Nature themed cards with bees or flowers. Seasonal cards using holiday stamps.
You can also stamp other items the same way.

Once you start stamping things, you realize how many blank surfaces are waiting for a little IOD love.

WHY I LIKE THESE FOR BOOTH INVENTORY
First, it's a low cost, low effort project. Also, I can easily sell them in my booth as a simple add on item for shoppers.
Sometimes the smallest handmade items are the ones people grab on their way to the register.

FINAL THOUGHT
Sending a handwritten card feels almost rebellious now.
It slows things down. It shows someone you took a moment to write something just for them.
And with a simple stamp, a little ink, and a blank card, you can make something that feels personal in just a few minutes.
